After years of working in mental illness, substance abuse and alcohol use disorders, the founding members of the organization recognized the unique needs of Veterans struggling with anxiety, PTSD, Depression and similar conditions, through their work as industry leaders and medical facility operators.
Frustrated by delays in receiving care, navigating a complex, fragmented system, the veterans in their facilities often felt hopeless or unheard by their local VA’s. The program began as a way for advocates in case management to coordinate better; working alongside veterans in their care to assist them in obtaining referrals, transportation to appointments, or better understanding their benefits and entitlements.
Now in our 26th year of continuous operation, this “coast-to-coast” network of veteran advocates are registered lobbyists with decades of expertise and the same mission; we work tirelessly to ensure veterans from all around the nation do not give up on themselves.
Since 1998, the breadth and depth of the services we provide to veterans has grown. Our veteran lobbyists created a 24-hour monitored phone line to assist veterans requiring health care services.
We’ve attended and hosted outreach events to educate veterans on important legislation, and maintained personal connections with local hospitals, VFW, American Legion Posts and VA’s around the
country.
Our lobbyists understand that information, persistence and support are the best tools for
veterans struggling with complex challenges – that assistance from an organization like ours can help them in accessing the vast network of services available to help with a spectrum of challenges.
We put ourselves on the front lines and make ourselves available to veterans when and where they need us most, in their own communities and among the people they trust.
